Horizonte Minerals is an international mineral resources exploration group focused on the identification, appraisal and development of nickel and gold deposits in Brazil. The Group is led by a management team, with over 50 years of combined experience in mineral exploration in South America, where it has assembled a portfolio of assets at various stages of the development cycle.
Horizonte wholly owns the advanced Araguaia nickel project in the Carajás mineral district of northern Brazil, which it acquired from Teck Resources in July 2010. The Company has since consolidated its position in this potentially world-class nickel district by acquiring the adjacent Vila Oito and Floresta nickel laterite projects from Lara Exploration Ltd. It is Horizonte’s intention to fast-track exploration to define a plus 100Mt Ni resource and advance towards Feasibility study stage.

Horizonte also has exposure to gold through its two strategic alliances with AngloGold Ashanti to explore and develop gold projects in northern Brazil and a JV partnership with Troy Resources, which is currently exploring and advancing the Tangara gold project also in Brazil.
The two core Brazilian gold projects, Tangara and Falcao, are located to the south of the highly prospective Carajás Mineral Province. Each project covers an area of approximately 300km2 and is centred over a greenstone belt, with identified gold mineralisation from exploration activities undertaken by previous owners and from garimpero mining. The large land package, the aerial extent of the mineralized systems and the high density and magnitude of related gold anomalies (identified in samples of river sediments, surface soils and rocks), indicate the potential for multiple deposit discoveries.
The Directors believe that the development of the exploration sector is important in order to safeguard a sustainable economic future for the mining industry and that the lack of direct investment in exploration activities over the past decade has resulted in the projected global demand exceeding the projected global supply for a number of commodities, particularly in the case of gold and copper.
